hi,
iām amberlin!
I focus on creating oil and acrylic paintings as well as drawings across a wide range of mediums, but I also strive to experiment with as many materials that I can get my hands on. The majority of my work revolves around portraiture and the human figure as people strongly relate to other human beings; therefore, I can use them as an effective tool to elicit a wide range of emotion.
My body of work serves almost as a journal to record my experiences, obsessions, and revelations. I am more honest in my work than I ever could be using my words. It is important to me that my audience can feel seen when viewing my art, whether that be due to shared experiences, ways of thinking, or simply being kindred species. I repeatedly create self portraits as I grow as a person as a way to document how my life has evolved. I use my art to understand my relationships, not only with others, but with myself. If I did not create art, I would be bottling up my own emotions.
